On 17th November, a Meeting of the EU COPS Ambassadors (Political and Security Committee) was held in Albacete. The Air Base received a delegation composed of representatives of the 27 member nations, including ambassadors, advisors and civil servants.
The visit took place in the facilities of the 14th Wing, Maestranza (MAESAL) and the Tactical Leadership Programme.
Upon arrival, they were received by the Chief of Albacete Air Base and the 14th Wing, Colonel Mr. Ignacio Zulueta Martín; by the Chief Colonel of the TLP, Colonel Mr. Luis Alberto Martínez Ruiz; and by the Deputy Commander of MAESAL, Major Mr. Sergio Martínez Pérez, as well as a commission of personnel from the three units.
The activities began with a presentation by the heads of the units involved, explaining their history, organization and assigned tasks. After the presentations, a group photo was taken next to two Eurofighter aircraft and their panoply of weapons.
Once the photograph was taken, the group visit began: in the 14th Wing they saw a presentation of the cockpit of the Eurofighter with its armament panoply, as well as the flight suit equipment; in the TLP they visited the simulator and the hangar, where they had the opportunity to learn about the planning process of the Flying Course 23-4; and in MAESAL they visited the hangars of the combat and fire-fighting aircraft.
After the visit to our facilities, the ambassadors moved to Airbus Helicopters Spain factory, and then flew from Albacete Air Base to Brussels.
